Spring Wedding Centerpieces

Favorite spring wedding centerpieces - some are deceptively easy to recreate. Creamy white roses, berries and blooms look right at home nestled together in a turquoise glass Mason Jar. Lovely, large lavender and deep purple roses are exquisite in a vintage sterling silver coffee pot. A large, round terra cotta tray holds a tall pillar with fresh lemons and limes and scattered white daisies - perfect for a spring or summer wedding. What are the most popular spring flowers? Tulips are the most affordable, followed by sweet peas, roses and gerbera daisies. But you can't beat the price of my favorite violet flower, hydrangea. It comes back year after year in spite of the fact that I can't grow a thing. It costs me nothing and is always paints a beautiful picture along my fence in early spring.

Lovely Pink Floral Headpieces

Enchantingly beautiful pink floral headpieces - here shown with a single or double wreath of pale pink cherry blossoms, creamy silk hydrangeas with pearl centers, and pip berries in various shades of white, pink blue and mint green.  All of these fairy-like flowers lovingly weaved asymmetrically on a twisty vine wreath.  How much are they worth?  Most of these whimsical woodland style headpieces will cost you between $85 to $110 and would be exquisite for a spring or outdoor garden wedding.  Some have ivory ribbon ties at back and are made to fit a 20 to 23 inch head best - but smaller and larger sizes can be easily accommodated.

Purple Lace Wedding Banner

This purple wedding banner has twelve flags with a lovely lace inspired design and detailed scalloped edges in purple, lilac and cream - finished off with a satin bias tape in dark wine. It was made out of cotton fabric, available under fifty dollars and measured about 9 feet, 10 inches long. As is the case for many items I try to feature from Etsy, this particular Mexican style wedding banner (also known as Papel Picado) is currently not listed. But many other artisans are selling beautiful fiesta banners similar to these.

Personalized Tea Bag Favors

Personalized tea bag favors - will they be well loved?   Let's put it this way, if you counted up all the coffee, hot chocolate, Pepsi, Coke, wine, whiskey - all things high and low on liquor store shelves (consumed by people in one year's time) it would still be less than the amount of tea enjoyed by tea lovers everywhere.  A soothing cup of hot tea helps put the brakes on our too-busy lives.  And here in America we like it ice cold too - 80% of the time.  I love to give (and receive) tea bag favors and here's why:
  • Tea bags are affordable yet stylish.  The favors featured here sell for about $1.00 each and yet are elegantly dressed up with these 3 styles:  Exclusive (Chalkboard, Mason Jar, Floral, Cupcake, Seashells, and Snowflakes), Classic (Cherry Blossom, Bride and Groom, Paris, Birds in Love, and Beach Chairs), and Monogram (Antique Cameo, Modern Diamond and Victorian Lace).
  • Everyone loves to drink tea.  We're not as turned on about tea as the Irish - who savor a strong, hot cup about 6 times a day - but we have been sipping this savory brew since 1907, when an American tea merchant named Thomas Sullivan began handing out samples of his tea in small, Chinese silk bags with handy drawstrings attached.
  • Health benefits of tea - too many to count!  Not only has tea been proven to have heart-healthy benefits, it also helps protect you from a range of super scary cancers.  And did you know drinking tea is good for your lungs?  It contains trace amounts of theophylline - a life saving medicine for asthmatics that helps relax the bronchial muscles and make breathing easier.
  • Tea leaves are good for the planet!  No waste, no worry, no plastic to fill up our landfills.  If you enjoy a cup of tea brewed with loose leaves or even a tea bag, these are terrific sources of rich nitrogen for your compost pile.

Cranberry Spinach Salad

This crunchy cranberry spinach salad has it all - only 10 minutes to prepare, low calorie and delicious, and visually beautiful for your next bridal luncheon or shower. To make this salad even easier to prepare use Craisins (or store brand dried cranberries - just as tasty) and Paul Newman's balsamic vinaigrette instead of making your own dressing.  Toasted pine nuts (10 minutes in 350 oven - no butter) are a great substitute for almonds and skip the onions if one of your friends isn't a big fan.  An added container of crumbled gorgonzola or blue cheese may make this easy spinach salad one of your most well-loved recipes.

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cup almonds, slivered
  • 1 pound spinach, rinsed and torn into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (350 degrees for 10 minutes)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons minced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

1.  In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Cook and stir almonds in butter until lightly toasted. Remove from heat, and let cool.

2.  In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, onion, paprika, white wine vinegar, cider vinegar, and vegetable oil. Toss with spinach just before serving.

3.  In a beautiful large bowl, combine the spinach with the toasted almonds and cranberries.

Lace Fondant Wedding Cakes

Today my eyes landed on these lace fondant wedding cakes purely by accident. Makes me want to relocate to mid west England to purchase one of these breathtakingly beautiful custom wedding cakes from Cotton & Crumbs. Their cakes are coated in a layer of Belgian white chocolate ganache and finished off with Swiss fondant! Established in 2008 by cake designer Tracy James, she has created a widely recognized, award winning cake company serving the West and East Midlands, Warwickshire and Staffordshire. Sadly enough, too far away from the place we call home. You wouldn't expect a cake designer so celebrated to invite you into her own home for a no obligation consultation, the kind of one-on-one customer service every bride would love to get.

Wedding Thank You Postcards

I love these wedding thank you postcards from Zazzle because those magic wedding moments can be collected into a lovely keepsake collage. All three of these are available for about $1.00 each in quantities of eight (with an additional 15% discount). How soon to write those thank you notes? Usually within a month from the time you receive a gift. Let them know, "Our new Hamilton Beach Quesadilla Maker is just what we wanted since we both love Mexican food." And remember to take your time, because writing thoughtful words should be a joy, not a job. Give family and friends and your old soccer coach, one more sweet moment to know how grateful you really are.

Bohemian Inspired Wedding Dresses

Bohemian inspired wedding dresses - by relatively new French designer Laure de Sagazan. Boho, breathtaking and beautiful. Laure launched her collection only last year after being begged by a cousin for a unique and unforgettable handmade wedding dress. The result - an effortless style that mixes breezy bohemian, a touch of rock 'n roll and sensual sophistication. In other words, you won't see any of the things you've seen so many times before - gathered tulle skirts, richly beaded bodices, metallic embroidery and corset closures. Her vision is like a breath of fresh air to non-traditional brides who love her unpolished elegance and signature lace separates.
